The Dairy House is a training and development company in the field of Food and Dairy products, dairy processing, dairy science, dairy quality, cleaning/CiP and the corresponding dairy food safety and hygienic practice.
We can help train/develop employees at operator, technician and managerial levels in all aspects of successful food & dairy manufacture and equivalent product safety.
This is a niche skill and specialist area of expertise where, in addition, we will build in aspects of behavioural, lean and continuous improvement training. We will develop people to understand the product and the process whilst having a keen eye on product and process improvement. This will include yield improvements and prepare people to have confidence in their own job.

About The Trainers
With over 30 years working in the food and agricultural sector, Chris Edwards OBE, TD, FIFST, has an in-depth understanding of the challenges facing the food and dairy supply chain from primary production through to retail supply. During his career, the cereal/dairy farmer's son has played a lead role in land-based education and training, rural business and regional development, with emphasis on the dairy sector. This breadth of experience has been instrumental in his determination to promote best practice and the sustainable future for food and dairy processing in the UK through Skills development. In his previous employment positions, Chris has worked as a food supermarket manager, product development technologist, an operations manager with Milk Marque, Warehouse Operations manager, he has lectured in Food and Dairy Technology for 15 years in addition to managing the product development halls at Reaseheath College. He has worked for 4 ½ years with Arla Foods as their Technical Competence Development Manager, 12 months with Tetra Pak UK processing systems concentrating on dairy plant business development. Most recently he developed his own Dairy Technology Training and Consultancy business and now works as Head of Quality with Muller Yogurts and Desserts.
He believes that the food industry must continually be able to change and adapt in response to market (local and global) demands by keeping abreast of the ever-changing factors within global dairy sector such as processing, quality, supply and cultural. To achieve and maintain these changes it is vital to have knowledgeable and enthusiastic leadership at all levels based on the same vision and, importantly, values.
The Dairy House is a training and development company, particularly within the field of dairy products, dairy processing and dairy science, but not exclusively as we have the capability to deliver food technology across a broad spectrum of food products. We can help train employees at operator, technician and managerial levels in all aspects of successful dairy manufacture. This is a multi- talented team which can support educational but practical support in problem solving with faults in products and process.
We deliver
- Food and Dairy Science (Chemistry, Biology and Physical) at foundation, intermediate, advanced levels
- Food and Dairy Products (cheese, milk, cream, butter, ice cream, powder) at foundation, intermediate, advanced levels
- Food and Dairy processing (mixing, heat treatment, homogenisation, separation, CIP, ) at foundation, intermediate, advanced levels
- Food and Dairy Hygiene (GMP, CIP, COP) at foundation, intermediate, advanced levels
In addition we can support improvement activities with local OPEX and CI teams. We deliver courses that are bespoke to the company and written for specific activity but also national courses which can be accredited at OFQUAL levels 1-4. Examples of this would be:
